Abstract:
The Center for Nuclear Security Science and Policy Initiatives (NSSPI) at Texas A&M University hosted the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Nuclear Knowledge Management (NKM) School in the United States in 2022 and 2023. This week-long, multinational event took place on the campus of the university renowned for having the largest nuclear engineering education program in the United States. Notably, the program featured the participation of a local subject matter expert, who brought extensive expertise in human resource development from the US nuclear power industry and worked in collaboration with the experts from the Division of Information and Knowledge Management in the IAEA Department of Nuclear Energy to develop a comprehensive program with active learning opportunities for the participants. This presentation will discuss the experience of implementing the NKM school. A detailed description of the course structure and content will be given. It will also summarize the demographics of the school, feedback from the participants, and lessons learned from the implementers and experts. The outcomes of the school and the adjustments made from year to year will also be addressed.
