Short Bio:
Jennifer Erchinger received her Ph.D. degree in nuclear engineering from Texas A&M University in August. She performed her doctoral research as a Post-Master’s Research Associate at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) with Dr. Craig Marianno as her adviser. Her project involves the development and testing of an ultra-low-background liquid scintillation counter constructed at PNNL.rnrnWhile at NSSPI, she presented at various conferences, including annual meetings for the Institute for Nuclear Materials Management and national and South Texas Chapter meetings of the Health Physics Society. She represented NSSPI at the International Seminar on Global Nuclear Human Resource Development for Safety, Security and Safeguards in Tokyo, Japan in February of 2013 and participated in a UK-Norway Initiative arms control exercise along with a group of other NSSPI students in Oslo, Norway. In the summer of 2014, she traveled to IIT-Kanpur in India for a 10-week research internship. She was also the recipient of the Robert S. Landauer, Sr. Memorial Fellowship from the Health Physics Society. Erchinger graduated with an M.S. in Health Physics under Dr. Marianno in May 2013, preceded by a B.S. in Chemistry from Texas A&M in May 2011. rnrnErchinger successfully defended her dissertation in September of 2016 and is currently working as a Scientist at Los Alamos National Laboratory supporting the Nuclear Smuggling Detection and Deterrence office.
