Short Bio:
Amanda Crystal Edwin is NSSPI graduate who earned her Master of Science degree in nuclear engineering with a specialization in nonproliferation in May of 2021. Edwin worked with Dr. Chirayath on developing a coupled (Physics + Thermal Hydraulics) analysis of the small modular reactor (SMR) by operating the state of the art MCNP with thermal hydraulics analysis code using a coupling software that she is developing. The code will be able to analyze the inter dynamics of neutronics and thermal hydraulics in an optimized time frame that considers Physics and engineering features. The multi-physics coupling computational methodology which is being developed as part of this research involves simulating the generic SMR core model using the MCNP/MCNPX41 42 codes coupled to a semi-analytic thermal hydraulics assessment tool. This code will also generate the matrix for safety analysis and safeguards analysis. Edwin received her Master’s degree in Nuclear Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Madras, India in 2017. Upon graduation, she plans to pursue a Ph.D. degree at St. Mary’s University in Halifax, Canada.
