NSSPI researchers participated in the American Nuclear Society Winter Meeting this week in Washington, D.C., contributing to discussions on safeguards, nonproliferation, and advanced reactor research. NSSPI Director Dr. Mansung Yim served as a panelist in the Proliferation Resistance session at the Advances in Nuclear Nonproliferation Technology and Policy Conference (ANTPC 2025), held in conjunction with the meeting. He joined experts from Sandia, Y-12, and NTI in a session that examined safeguards and nonproliferation considerations for the increased deployment of advanced reactors and future fuel cycles.

NSSPI postdoctoral researchers Dr. Mohamed Elhareef and Dr. Minsuk Lee also presented their current work with Dr. Yim. Dr. Elhareef discussed the use of optimal changepoint detection methods to support near real-time nuclear accountancy for advanced reactors, while Dr. Lee shared an analysis of emerging research trends in the area of safety, security, and safeguards (3S) integration.

Their contributions reflect NSSPI’s continued role in advancing research and dialogue at the intersection of nuclear security, safeguards, and technology development.
