From January 30th through February 3rd, the TEES Nuclear Security Science and Policy Institute (NSSPI) welcomed Professor Sihana from the Department of Engineering Physics and Nuclear Engineering at the University of Gadjah Mada, (UGM) in Indonesia for a visit to discuss the development of a nuclear security curriculum for UGM. After Prof. Sihana presented the preliminary outline he developed for the new nuclear security courses, NSSPI faculty and staff provided him with the required resources to realize his planned curriculum. Prof. Sihana was given an overview of NSSPI nuclear security curriculum resource materials by NSSPI faculty and staff, including Director Dr. Sunil Chirayath, Research Engineer Mr. Claudio Gariazzo, Postdoctoral Research Associate Dr. Evans Kitcher, Associate Research Scientist and Senior Lecturer at the Bush School of Government and Public Service Mr. Richard Mac Namee, and Dr. Craig Marianno, Deputy Director of NSSPI and Assistant Professor in the Texas A&M University Department of Nuclear Engineering.
Once Prof. Sihana finalizes the nuclear security curriculum with his colleagues at UGM, NSSPI will provide support to UGM faculty to teach the courses. Prof. Sihana’s visit was sponsored by the US Department of State’s Partnership for Nuclear Security with logistics support provided by Culmen International, LLC.
