In December, TEES Nuclear Security Science and Policy Institute (NSSPI) Instructional Designer Kelley Ragusa traveled to Vienna, Austria to participate in the IAEA International Conference on Nuclear Security: Commitments and Actions. Ragusa delivered a presentation titled “Preparing the Next Generation of Nuclear Security Professionals-The Technology/Policy Nexus,” which discussed nuclear security training and education being carried out at Texas A&M University by NSSPI and the Nuclear Power Institute (NPI). The paper was part of a session that included a panel discussion on training in nuclear security for States embarking on the peaceful use of nuclear energy.
NSSPI participation in the conference also involved helping to represent and promote the IAEA’s International Nuclear Security Education Network (INSEN), of which NSSPI is a founding member. INSEN is a network of educational and research institutes dedicated to enhancing global nuclear security by developing, sharing, and promoting nuclear security education.
