From March 12-14, NSSPI hosted the semi-annual meeting of the Material Protection Accounting and Control Technologies (MPACT) campaign working group. MPACT is a campaign, sponsored by the US Department of Energy’s Office of Nuclear Energy (DOE-NE), whose mission is to develop innovative technologies and analysis tools to enable next-generation nuclear materials management for existing and future U.S. nuclear fuel cycles, focusing on minimizing proliferation and terrorism risk.
Thirty-seven participants from the DOE, NNSA, US national labs, academia, and industry attended the meeting to present and discuss work on topics related to MPACT’s mission areas. The last day of the meeting included tours of TAMU Nuclear Engineering facilities, the Disaster City training facility, and Emergency Operations Training Center.
