The Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Nuclear Matters (DASD(NM)), Dr. Vahid Majidi, visited the TEES Nuclear Security Science and Policy Institute (NSSPI), Texas A&M University, and The Bush School of Government and Public Policy on October 29 and 30. Majidi’s office sponsors several projects with NSSPI that integrate both technical and policy aspects of nuclear security.
During his visit, Majidi toured several campus facilities, including Disaster City and the Emergency Operations Training Center. He gave presentations to and engaged in discussions with students from the Texas A&M student chapter of the Institute of Nuclear Materials Management (INMM), as well as with students and faculty at the Bush School. Majidi’s visit provided an excellent opportunity for students to learn how both technical and policy expertise on nuclear security issues can be used in federal service.
