Meyappan Subbaah will be receiving his M.S. degree in nuclear engineering from Texas A&M University in August. He worked with Dr. Sunil Chirayath to study the various indicators of nuclear proliferation actions by states in order to quantify the associated level of risk. This study expands upon previous proliferation risk work by investigating the number of uranium enrichment and plutonium reprocessing (ENR) facilities a state has based on various historical indicators.
Subbaiah earned his B.S. degree in nuclear engineering from Texas A&M in 2014. As an undergraduate student he participated in an Aggie Challenge team led by Dr. Chirayath to investigate multi-disciplinary approaches to effectively interdicting the smuggling of highly enriched uranium. Subbaiah successfully defended his thesis in May and has accepted a research position at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, where he also interned during his time at NSSPI.
