In early December 2013, NSSPI hosted the senior faculty member and Convener Prof. Prabhat Munshi of the Nuclear Engineering and Technology Program at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (IIT-K). The purpose of Prof. Munshi’s visit was to discuss the possibilities of student/faculty exchange in the light of the recent Memorandum of Agreement signed between Texas A&M University’s College of Engineering and IIT-K. Prof. Munshi had discussions with Texas A&M College of Engineering officials and was briefed about the capabilities of the Nuclear Engineering Department. Prof. Munshi visited departmental laboratories and research facilities such as the AGN research reactor, the Nuclear Science Center TRIGA reactor, the Fuel Cycle and Materials Laboratory, and the thermal hydraulics laboratory.
Dr. Munshi’s visit comes after visits to IIT-K by recent NSSPI Ph.D. graduate Dr. Braden Goddard who taught a series of lectures on nuclear security science there in April 2013 and by current NSSPI Ph.D. student Jennifer Erchinger who traveled to IIT-K to work on research during the summer of 2013.
