NSSPI Associate Director, Dr. Sunil Chirayath traveled to Daejeon, South Korea to give an invited talk at the 18th Annual Meeting of the Korea chapter of the Institute of Nuclear Materials Management (INMM) held on November 13th at Hotel INTERCITI. The focus of the meeting was “Nonproliferation Challenges in Spent Fuel Management.” The meeting included two technical sessions: Safeguards and Security Considerations in Spent Fuel Management and Scientific and Technical Solutions for Sustainable Nuclear Energy Systems for the Future. Dr. Chirayath’s talk was in the second technical session, and the title of the talk was “Safeguards Issues and Recommendations for a Fast Reactor Fuel Cycle.”
While in Korea, he also participated in discussions with professionals at the Korean Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI) and the Korean Institute for Nuclear Nonproliferation And Control (KINAC) on the possibilities of future collaborative research with Texas A&M University.
