On March 20th, Mr. Grant Ford visited Texas A&M and the TEES Nuclear Security Science and Policy Institute (NSSPI) to deliver a seminar lecture to students about the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) and its role in radiation detection research. Ford is a NSSPI graduate and currently the J9 NTDN Nuclear Threats Branch Chief of DTRA.
The seminar was organized by the Texas A&M Institute of Nuclear Materials Management (INMM) Student Chapter and NSSPI faculty. Ford’s talk covered nuclear technologies, challenges, and priorities from a Department of Defense perspective. He discussed a wide span of topics ranging from nuclear detection/attribution technology to nuclear weapon capabilities and nuclear threats with regards to the United States.
