Analysis of a Centrifugally Tensioned Meta-Stable Fluid Detector for Use as a Real-Time Safeguard in a Reprocessing Facility

The project is focused on analyzing a centrifugally tensioned meta-stable fluid detector (CTMFD) for use as a real-time safeguard in a reprocessing facility. To do this the CTMFD will be tested with external gamma sources to determine blindness, neutron sources to characterize the detector, and in- solution alpha sources to determine the ability for alpha detection. Currently gamma tests have been competed with a 100 μCi source and blindness was confirmed. Neutron and alpha experiments have also been completed, and the data is currently being analyzed.
