Abstract:

In this talk, we will discuss a set of layered container inspection policies for detecting illicit nuclear materials at ports-of-entry such as sea ports and land border crossings. We develop a set of new inspection policies, which are designed to allow for improved defense against sophisticated adversaries. We will discuss the performance of these policies in the context of a general framework for nuclear materials detection, as well as some implications for worldwide shipping.
