Role of the State

The role of the State includes Definition of general protection objectives; Distribution of responsibilities; and Protection of Information.

The establishment, implementation and maintenance of the nuclear security regime within a State rests entirely with the State.  This includes:

  • Establishing legal and regulatory framework;
  • Establishing and producing an overall security policy
    • Taking into account threats, international aspects, and national regulatory framework;
  • Protection of sensitive information; and
  • Coordination of responsibilities between government entities/organizations.
