Beliefs and Attitudes

Beliefs and attitudes that are firmly held by an organization and its personnel affect how people behave and how they respond to security issues and events.  Within an organization's culture, these beliefs can be initiated by leaders or developed through experience.  

The underlying beliefs and attitudes that support nuclear security culture are:

  • threats of malicious acts by insiders and outsiders are credible and 
  • nuclear security is important.
